Associate Professor of Clinical Practice Program Director, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program
Dr. Tisha Spence is an Associate Professor of Clinical Practice in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Critical Care, at the University of Washington School of Medicine and an Attending Physician in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She earned her B.S. in Physiology with a specialization in Bioethics, Health, and Humanities from Michigan State University and completed her M.D. at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She completed residency in Pediatrics at the Morehouse School of Medicine/Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she also served as Chief Resident—followed by fellowship training in Neonatology and Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Mississippi Medical Center/Children’s of Mississippi. She is board-certified in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. She is pursuing a Master of Education in the Health Professions at Johns Hopkins University to further strengthen her role as a clinician-educator. Dr. Spence is deeply committed to teaching, mentorship, and academic service. She has delivered numerous lectures, mentored trainees across multiple levels, and contributed to key institutional committees and educational initiatives. Her professional interests include global health, capacity building in low-resource settings, and advancing innovative approaches to medical education.
