Clinical Interests: Family centered, and evidence‐based approach for all newborns requiring neonatal intensive care services.
Scholarly Focus: Dr. Perez current scholarly focus centers on evaluating the impact of common NICU practices on specific neonatal outcomes and working collaboratively with physicians, staff members, and NICU families on establishing and/or improving existing guidelines/policies to improve those specific outcomes. Specific focus of Dr. Perez includes the most vulnerable peri‐viable and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) newborn populations. Dr. Perez is also interested in improving outcomes in the Pacific Northwest through outreach education and expansion of telehealth services.
Administration/Education Roles: Dr. Perez is the Co‐Director of the Regional Neonatal Outreach Program and the NICU Medical Director at Swedish Issaquah Medical Center. He is part of the Seattle Children’s BPD Team, a multidisciplinary team involved at improving the outcome of infants with BPD. He is an active member of the Neonatal Telehealth and Faculty Recruitment Teams.
